How You Can Help

A few years ago my aunt, uncle and cousins were racking their brains for a way to honor the loss of their oldest, Tim. They had found written in his diary, after he was taken from us at just fifteen from a bad car accident, a phrase that would come to shape what is now known as Timmy's Golf Classic.

I always wanted to be remembered for helping others save someone’s life.

They decided that there would be nothing better to Tim than people he loved coming together in sport and good times to help out those in need. For the first few years of the tournament they went with a big charity and helped raise thousands. However, after last year's tournament the reassessed their message. They all decided they wanted to niche down further in who and how they were helping. They knew for their next event they wanted to help one, local family with something great.

After watching how one of their own go through the heartaches of infertility and the struggles of finances throughout the process of bringing home their baby girl they realized their hearts were being pulled in a direction.

The fast few years of living in Tulsa and now right down the street from my aunt we've grown incredibly close. So she had heard my heartache. My frustrations. Our dead ends. She listened how I told her we were having to put off any decisions because they were all so expensive with no guarantee. How maybe becoming parents just wasn't going to happen for us.

After much consideration and talks with the tournament committee she took me to lunch and heard about yet another conversation we'd had with our doctor about our options. How exhausted we were from all the not-so-great options that were in front of us.

It didn't take long for her to blurt out how they were ready and willing to help. How it was something they had gotten together as a family and voted on and they were so excited to be a part of it. It was soon and we were both in tears over our chips and salsa.

Ever since that conversation we've been busy at work getting everything together for the tournament on September 19th, 2015 - but there's still so much more to do. Here's how you can help:
