How to Run a Social Media Campaign with Constant Contact

Learn how to reach all of your followers and get them all on your email list with Constant Contact's Social Media Campaigns.

Last time I shared with you why I was leaving MailChimp and switching to Constant Contact. One of the main features that got me was the ability to run social media campaigns.

There's usually a discrepancy between your subscribers, fans of your Facebook page and people who follow you on Twitter. Ideally you want one person to follow you on all of these platforms. Running a social media campaign makes this happen.

You can choose to offer a coupon, give downloadable content or offer a giveaway (sweepstakes).

Once you select your promotion setting it up is super simple. First decide what type of file you're going to upload. You can upload a calendar, checklist, e-book, guide, image, presentation, recipe or other. You just need to have your file in PDF form before uploading (Constant Contact saves all your files in your library), give it a name, description and decide which email list it will send to.

Once you pop in all the information on this screen you'll get to tweak the layout and color scheme and preview before it heads out to your list.

Then decide when you want to start your campaign, how long you want to run it and which Facebook page you'd like it to connect to.

Then it gets really fun. Now you get to decide if you'd like this campaign to also push to Twitter. If so it'll limit your characters to 140 or less, but I think you might as well send to all your channels at once. Constant Contact will automatically fill the images with standard stock files and the text with lines that work. I always change the images to ones that fit my brand (stock, my logo, the download, etc) and change all the text to sound more like me.

You do this for each day the campaign is set to go out and you can add additional pushes of the campaign just by clicking on the calendar.

That's it! This is the last step! Once everything is entered in you'll start the campaign and start getting emails from Constant Contact about the campaign activity. Once the entire campaign has ran its course you'll be able to see even more stats regarding how well it went. You'll be able to see how many people downloaded your content and how many new fans you got.

This is such an amazing feature that's available in the upgrade "email plus" package with Constant Contact. If you have any questions regarding the social media campaigns ask me in the comments!
